CaixaBank Dualiza and the Asociación de Centros de Formación Profesional FPEmpresa have launched the 9th Ayudas Dualiza Call for Proposals, which this year increases its funding to €460,000. These funds are aimed at supporting vocational training (VET) projects developed jointly by educational centers and collaborating entities.

The main objective of this initiative is to promote dual training by strengthening the connection between the educational system and the business sector, thereby improving students’ employability through practical and collaborative experiences.

The call will be open from September 30 to October 14, and the selected projects will be announced in December. Applications can be submitted through the website: https://www.caixabankdualiza.es.

New Features in the 9th Edition

This new edition introduces significant improvements:

  • A new project categorization, distinguishing between local initiatives (up to €10,000) and network projects between different autonomous communities (up to €25,000).
  • A simplified evaluation matrix, focused on innovation, effective collaboration, result transfer, and local impact.
  • Additional free training for project managers to help them communicate their project’s development, learnings, and outcomes.

Furthermore, the strategic objectives of the call have been redefined. They now include the promotion of educational innovation, sustainability, teacher upskilling, and contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Commitment to Vocational Training

Since its inception, the Ayudas Dualiza have supported more than 250 projects across Spain, benefiting thousands of students in areas such as IT, mechatronics, chemistry, commerce, and winemaking. These projects have helped bring VET closer to strategic sectors, creating synergies between educational institutions and businesses that result in more specialized training aligned with the real needs of the labor market.

Paula San Luis, Director of CaixaBank Dualiza, emphasized that “this call is a key tool to bring educational centers closer to companies and provide teachers with resources that improve student training, especially in a context where VET is gaining more importance due to the demand for new workers and the need to update the skills of those already in the labor market.”

For his part, Luis García Domínguez, President of FPEmpresa, stressed that “collaboration between schools and companies is essential to define a quality VET system adapted to the challenges of the future.” He also pointed out that each year, the call “demonstrates vocational training’s engagement with society’s challenges, allowing us to progress and create new learning models.”

The call also strengthens its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, promoting initiatives that place people, the planet, and prosperity at the core of each proposal. Special consideration will be given to the social, environmental, and economic impact of the projects, as well as their potential to transform communities and create employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

With this initiative, CaixaBank Dualiza and FPEmpresa reaffirm their commitment to a more connected, transformative, and future-oriented VET system. The call has become a national benchmark for driving innovative projects that strengthen Spain’s vocational training ecosystem.

In addition to this call, CaixaBank Dualiza continues to carry out initiatives nationwide to raise awareness about the value of VET, including technical workshops, sectoral meetings, and career guidance programs. These efforts reinforce VET’s role as a driver of social cohesion and economic development.

CaixaBank Dualiza, Empieza por Educar, and the Asociación de Centros de Formación Profesional FPEmpresa have launched ‘La Básica’, a web platform dedicated to promoting collaboration among teachers of Basic Vocational Education and Training (VET). This platform was created with the purpose of establishing a reference network for Basic VET educators in Spain, providing them with resources, training, and access to successful methodologies to improve their teaching practice.

‘La Básica’ aims to offer a space where teachers can find successful projects developed by other VET Basic Centers, adaptable learning methodologies for various educational contexts, and inspiring experiences from other educators to enrich their daily work.

This tool emerged after the success of the FPB En Red Congress, where hundreds of Basic VET teachers expressed the need for an exclusive space for their educational modality. This event highlighted the importance of giving visibility to teachers and providing them with additional tools for their work in VET Basic Degrees, a critical training to help students at risk of dropping out of school.

The current state of VET Basic Degrees in Spain

Although Basic VET has an almost 40% dropout rate, according to the recent 2024 report on VET studies in Spain by the Vocational Training Observatory, until now there has been no specialized network for sharing practices and resources among educational centers. The platform presents itself as the solution to this need, providing a supportive community and continuous resources throughout the year.

All content available on the platform focuses on eight key elements to drive improvement in VET Basic Degrees: improving the school climate, teaching staff cohesion, educational leadership, effective teaching, enhancing personal skills, maintaining high expectations, connecting centers, and providing proper personal guidance. These elements are part of the social mission of the platform and the commitment of CaixaBank Dualiza, Empieza por Educar, and FPEmpresa to help VET Basic Degrees teachers.

Website Features

‘La Básica’ offers a variety of useful resources for VET teachers:

  • Reference centers: a selection of centers that have implemented successful practices in VET Basic Degrees.
  • A compilation of good practices and projects developed by different VET centers.
  • Guides and specific resources created by reference centers for them to be used in other schools.
  • Online training to help teachers develop projects that positively impact their students’ education.
  • An inter-center mobility program: it allows teachers to undertake training stays to observe practices at reference centers in VET Basic Degrees.

The platform is freely accessible with registration and is free to use. It allows teachers to access additional training and activities to enhance the educational experience in VET Basic Degrees across Spain.

CaixaBank Dualiza and the Asociación de Centros de Formación Profesional FPEmpresa have opened the registration period for the Active Guidance Call, which has been renamed the Dualiza-Orienta Call. This initiative aims to support active guidance projects from educational centers towards Vocational Education and Training (VET).

The call is directed at strengthening support for guidance actions towards VET that will be carried out during the first semester of 2025, specifically from March 1 to June 30, 2025.

Thus, any public, private, or semi-private educational center offering regulated VET education in the country can participate in the Call.

Paula San Luis, Director of CaixaBank Dualiza, highlighted “the commitment of the organizing entities to guidance activities, a key pillar in education to facilitate the creation of appropriate educational paths for individuals, but above all, so that these paths are built from the choice made once all available options, including VET, are known. Guidance is one of the fundamental levers to reduce early school dropout and optimize the educational system.”

Luis García Domínguez, President of FPEmpresa, expressed that “the future of Vocational Training and Education depends on how we guide people toward market opportunities. Guidance should be seen as a dynamic process, where not only is information provided, but also inspiration. From the Association, we will continue promoting initiatives that allow young people to make educational decisions that open doors to their personal and professional development in a changing environment full of possibilities.”

Similarly, as the new VET law recognizes, it is necessary to acknowledge the work of counselors in facilitating the creation of a flexible educational path, linked to Vocational Education, that adapts to each individual’s profile and circumstances.

The projects can be directed towards any of the Professional Families offered for the 2024/2025 academic year, with priority given to those related to the STEAM field or sustainability and rural development.

This call aims to encourage new female vocations in industrial technical professions, related to new technologies and STEAM professions (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Design, and Mathematics).

The guidance actions, evaluated by the Evaluation Committee, that are selected will receive a financial grant of up to a maximum of 2,500 euros. The selected projects will be announced in the first half of March 2025.

The goal of this call is to promote guidance actions that foster a better and broader understanding of VET among primary, secondary, and/or high school students, where VET centers play an active role and can count on support from companies.

The application submission period will run from January 13 to February 3, 2025, and applications should be submitted through the website www.caixabankdualiza.es.

The Association of Vocational Training Centres FPEmpresa and FENIE had organised this Tuesday, 7 November, together with CaixaBank Dualiza, the conference “Present and future of Vocational Training in the installations sector” held at the headquarters of ASPRINELPA, the provincial association of employers of electrical and telecommunications installations in Palencia. This meeting, which stems from the collaboration agreement between FPEmpresa and FENIE signed in July 2023, is the first pilot test in Palencia and will later continue to expand the project throughout the rest of Spain.

Representing FPEmpresa was María Ángeles Bernal, the Association’s coordinating member in Castilla y León.

The aim of this meeting was to promote collaboration between vocational training centres and companies in the facilities sector in order to develop synergies between the business and training worlds.

Thus, the participants in the event included companies such as Electricidad Fergal SL, Electricidad Vicente SL and Elgosa Instalaciones y Montajes SL, among others, as well as the professional families of Electricity and Electronics of the Castile and Leon educational centres Centro Don Bosco, IES Santa María La Real and IES Trinidad Arroyo, a partner centre of FPEmpresa.

Programme

The event, inaugurated by Miguel Ángel Gómez, president of FENIE and ASPRINELPA, included various working groups where the participants, both representatives of installation companies and the education sector, raised different questions about the current context of student training and their employability in the sector.

After the networking session, activities were carried out with the aim of creating actions to improve the employability of young people in the installation sector. To this end, the advantages that VET can offer in installation companies were presented, as well as the opportunities that can be generated by educational centres to offer VET talent and boost the workforce in the installation sector.

To conclude the programme, those involved in the conference explained the opportunities that can be experienced if projects are carried out jointly, as well as the specific needs that companies of different sizes (between large and small companies) can demand. For this reason, visits by the entities to VET centres will be promoted so that students can get to know first-hand the job opportunities available to them once they have finished their studies, among other initiatives.

“We want to continue to develop activities of this kind together with FENIE, as they are key to continuing to focus on vocational training. It is important to keep up to date in all productive sectors, but especially in those that are constantly changing, such as the installation sector”, concluded María Ángeles Bernal.

The Association of Vocational Training Centres FPEmpresa brings together since this week more than 600 associated centres. The associated centres are distributed throughout all the autonomous communities, which makes the Association the largest meeting point for working together in the field of Vocational Training.

Since the birth of the Association, its evolution has focused on boosting synergies between VET centres and other entities such as public administrations, companies and foundations. It is worth remembering that the origin of the Association is to be found in an innovation project of the Ministry of Education. At the end of that project, in 2012, the centres involved decided to continue working as a network.   From there, FPEmpresa was born and since then, they have been working to create a collaborative space where they can always work in favour of Vocational Education and Training.

“In FPEmpresa our centres join forces to develop new projects. It is an excellent meeting point to participate in relevant VET calls, such as those of the Ministry of Education and VET, CaixaBank Dualiza, among others”, said Luis García Domínguez, president of FPEmpresa.

On the other hand, the Association has also become the voice that represents vocational training centres before different social agents. “If each centre were to express its perspective on VET individually to the Public Administrations, it would most likely remain in the background. Therefore, it is very important to join forces and for our requests and suggestions to go further and further,” said García Domínguez.

Likewise, FPEmpresa continues to be committed to internationalisation. Being 600 centres helps the organisation’s voice to be heard more attentively in Europe, both through projects and through its involvement in international organisations, such as EfVET, WFCP and SEPIE.

“Without a doubt, belonging to FPEmpresa means belonging to the largest network of VET centres that can exist in our country. Our collaborative network aims to continue to be the catalyst for change and progress in the VET system,” said the president of FPEmpresa.

Major changes in the internal organisation chart of FPEmpresa

Ensuring that the Association grows in membership every year is an important task in order to continue to promote VET, but it is also important that it evolves internally. Thus, FPEmpresa has increased the number of members on the Board of Directors, increasing the number of deputy secretaries and ensuring that there is one member for each autonomous community. For the evolution of the Association, the dedication of all the members of the Board is key, as without their dedication and effort, many of the initiatives that are currently being carried out would not be viable.

The growth of FPEmpresa has also been supported by important collaborators. One of the most important, without a doubt, has been the support received from CaixaBank Dualiza. The joint work of both entities has resulted in the implementation of important initiatives for Vocational Training.

More than 550 teachers discussed the new collaboration between VET centres and companies that will take place after the implementation of the VET Law at the 9th FPEmpresa and CaixaBank Dualiza VET Congress. Under the slogan “Working together. The new role of the company in VET” and during the 4th and 5th of May, the Cidade da Cultura de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela hosted the debates related to the challenges that society will face for the adequate development of the new regulations, the role that business and trade union organisations will develop to facilitate the training commitment of the company and the relationship with the centres, and the role of the company tutor in dual training.

The Regional Minister of Culture, Education and Universities of the Xunta de Galicia, Román Rodríguez, stressed that companies will have “to trust even more in vocational training” with the introduction of the new law that dualises all new training, despite the fact that a large part of the work has already been done. As he pointed out, “companies rely on vocational training to find professional resources to expand their workforces”, as reflected in the data: “85% of students who take vocational training in Galicia are placed immediately, and if we are talking about dual training, the percentage is 100%”.

Among the companies that took part in the Congress were Iberdrola, Nestlé España and Grupo Pescanova, which underlined the responsibility that companies are taking on with the new regulations.

Silvia Carballo, from HR at Nestlé España, pointed out that this new regulation poses to the company “whether you want to be a mere spectator or integrate me from the beginning, that we all start hand in hand with a common objective to provide the best profiles, which adapt to the needs we have”.

For Patricia Rodríguez, from the Grupo Pescanova, the new law is an opportunity to increase collaboration with educational centres and to continue improving.

New success in participation

The organisers FPEmpresa and CaixaBank Dualiza, in collaboration with the Xunta de Galicia and the participation of Fundación Orange, have celebrated the good reception of the congress, which each year brings together more than half a thousand attendees from all over Spain.

The president of FPEmpresa, Luis García Domínguez, gave a positive assessment of the results of the event and recalled that “the 9th VET Congress was intended to focus on the new role of the company in the regulatory framework of the new VET Law”.

In this way, García stated that “the reflections that have taken place at this meeting have helped us to determine which are the critical elements for improving the system. One of them is related to improving orientation towards vocational training and the desire to find ways or places for companies and centres to meet”.

The director of CaixaBank Dualiza, Paula San Luis, expressed her satisfaction with the smooth running of the congress, which has already become a benchmark for VET professionals and is a meeting point for teachers, but also a stage for the main educational vanguards, and a bridge to companies, which are increasingly represented in this forum”.

This success is the result, said San Luis, “of the efforts of teachers from all over Spain, of our ally FPEmpresa, without whom this would not be possible, and of the Xunta and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, which not only facilitate but also support each of the actions initiated by CaixaBank Dualiza for the prestige of vocational training”.

9th VET Congress, a meeting point for VET centres, companies and business organisations

More than 20 speakers from different sectors, from academia to business, took part in the congress, with the aim of highlighting the value of leading companies in vocational training and the creation of tools that provide knowledge to educational centres and national and international students. Among the various speakers were Román Rodríguez, Regional Minister of Culture, Education, Vocational Training and Universities of the Xunta de Galicia; Eugenia Pérez, Director General of Vocational Training of the Xunta de Galicia; Ángeles Cárdaba, Advisor to the Office of the Secretary of Vocational Training; Mónica Moso, head of the CaixaBank Dualiza VET Knowledge and Innovation Centre; and, finally, companies such as Iberdrola, with the head of Training at Iberdrola Spain, Roberto Mediavilla; IndesIA, with the expert in the GCTio area of Telefónica, Daniel Guzmán, Grupo Pescanova, Nestlé España, among others.

FPEmpresa also presented the awards for the 6th Call for Dualiza Grants and the 3rd edition of the FPEmpresa Awards, with Juan Carlos Lauder, former director of CaixaBank Dualiza, being recognised in the category of Vocational Training Career Award; and Javier Olleros in the category of the Award for the Company committed to Vocational Training.

Also, within the framework of this congress, several visits were made to VET centres in Galicia, such as CIFP Compostela, CIFP Politécnico de Santiago, CIFP Someso, CIFP de Imaxe y Son, CIFP Paseo das Pontes, CIFP Universidade Laboral Culleredo, CIFP Ánxel Casal-Monte Alto and CGIFP Eduardo Barreiros.

The Association of Vocational Training Centres FPEmpresa has surpassed this 16th February the figure of 500 associated centres from all over Spain. This figure is significant for the organisation, as it means that FPEmpresa’s objectives are being met every day.

Since the Association was set up in 2012, it has been committed to giving a leading role to VET in the education system and strengthening relations between the centres and their environment, helping to generate a greater public presence of these in society. Furthermore, the commitment between vocational training centres and companies is essential to improve the educational offer of training cycles and the pathways to integration into the labour market.

Having reached the figure of 500 associated centres, FPEmpresa continues to work to improve VET every day and to ensure its future growth, because the more centres we have, the more authority the voice of the Association will have.

FPEmpresa believes that all the players involved in VET should maintain the efforts made in recent years to raise the profile of VET and, above all, to invest in resources for it. VET centres should be a point of guidance, training and accompaniment towards the labour market.

VET as the first educational option, the greatest challenge for FPEmpresa

With the new VET Law, many of the main objectives have become a reality. A path has begun on which, if the resources invested are sustained, it could become a new VET comparable to its EU neighbours

Given the daily growth in the number of members, our network is committed to VET as the first educational option, as well as being sufficient, free, flexible and accessible to everyone. FPEmpresa also works to bring VET closer to companies and social agents. It is the future of citizens, but also the future of a healthy society and economy.

CaixaBank Dualiza and the various projects with which it promotes vocational training

Over the last 10 years, the Association has organised various projects related to vocational training thanks to the collaboration with its strategic ally, CaixaBank Dualiza. Both entities have worked together to launch noteworthy projects, such as the Convocatoria de Ayudas Dualiza, which to date has launched six different editions; and the Convocatoria de Orientación Activa, whose current edition is the fourth and whose aim is to recognise and support the guidance actions of educational centres towards VET and/or Dual VET.

In addition, every year FPEmpresa has received the support of CaixaBank Dualiza to organise the different VET Congresses in Spain, which aim to promote the VET of the future and share experiences and good practices among schools.

We would also like to thank the Group Esprinet for its cooperation, with which the collaboration agreement has been renewed to launch initiatives such as the VET Knowledge Transfer Award; Coca Cola for participating in ‘Gira Jóvenes’, its entrepreneurship and youth employability support project; the Orange Foundation, the ExE Foundation, CONIF, among others, to continue carrying out projects for and in favour of VET.

FPEmpresa is committed to Internationalisation

The Organisation is committed to Internationalisation in order to share its objectives and values with other European and international educational entities. For this reason, FPEmpresa is involved in international projects and associations, such as the Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education (SEPIE) and EfVET (European Forum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training), considered to be one of the most relevant international entities working to promote the quality of VET at European level.

FPEmpresa is also a member of another educational organisation of major international importance, WFCP (World Federation Of Colleges And Polytechnics). Belonging to these entities is not only beneficial for the Association, but also “for our associated centres, which allow them to have references and support in Europe or in other parts of the world”, says the president of FPEmpresa, Luis García Domínguez.

Tenth anniversary and 8th VET Congress

Another of the Association’s notable events was the holding of the VIII VET Congress, under the slogan ‘Building the VET centre of the future’, in Donostia-San Sebastián. More than 650 teachers gathered at this meeting to analyse the future of VET in the country, a record number of attendees for FPEmpresa. At the same time, the Association took the opportunity to celebrate its tenth anniversary, promoting vocational training centres with a future.

In 2010, the FPEmpresa project was presented as an innovation project under the motivation of 83 national VET centres. Two years later it would become the Association that seeks to represent the VET centres of Spain.

CaixaBank Dualiza and FPEmpresa have organised this Wednesday, 23rd November, the Dualiza Automotive Meeting at the IES Ana Luisa Benítez. This event, with the collaboration of the Sergio Alonso Foundation, was held with the aim of creating a meeting point where the centres that offer training courses in the professional family of Transport and Vehicle Maintenance can strengthen or establish new relationships with companies in the automotive sector within the framework of the new FP law.

Programme

The event was aimed at the educational centres where the TMV professional family is implemented, as well as business associations and companies in the automotive sector. The meeting began at 9am with a welcome from Javier Nuez Sáchez, director of IES Ana Luisa Benítez; and Eva Aguado, Territorial Coordinator of CaixaBank Dualiza.

This was followed by a presentation on ‘Vocational Training, a new scenario’ by Rosario Gañán Pérez, Director General of Vocational Training and Adult Education. Once finished, Manuel Socorro Valido, Dual VET prospector of the TMV professional family, started the presentation of the day. Nayra Moreno, director of the Sergio Alonso Foundation, spoke about ‘FP Plus automotive’ to highlight the importance of collaboration between the centre and the company.

Likewise, the CIFP Profesor Raúl Vázquez (Madrid) presented the good practices carried out in the Dual VET of the TMV family. Once again, Manuel Socorro spoke on the subject of the figure of the prospector in VET.

After the different interventions, there was a break to have breakfast and take advantage of the space for networking activities. To conclude the event, a round table was held to highlight the value of dual vocational training, under the title ‘Dual vocational training, the challenge’.

The 6th edition of the call for Ayudas Dualiza from CaixaBank Dualiza and the Association of Vocational Training Centres FPEmpresa has selected the 30 most innovative collaboration projects in the country promoted by 47 vocational training centres in collaboration with companies, which will receive a total of 402,759 euros for their development.

Most of these projects, a total of 19, have been presented by individual centres, while the other 11 have been selected in the network category, characterised by the fact that they are the result of the collaboration of several centres from different territories supporting a single idea.

These 30 projects will involve a total of 66 collaborating entities and 258 teachers through which the learning of 2,320 students will be improved.

Most of the selected schools are state-owned, almost 9 out of 10, while the rest are state-subsidised.

When selecting these 30 projects, the evaluation committee has taken into account that they should be innovative, encourage co-participation between centres, have a social impact, diversify the participating agents, establish coordination and communication mechanisms, contemplate sustainability to provide long-term results, be transferable, facilitate the communication of the achievements and seek to have an impact on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Regarding this last point, it is worth noting that a majority of projects are committed to impacting on the ODS Quality education, followed by Industry, innovation and infrastructure and, in third place, decent work and economic growth.

As for the professional families in which these initiatives will be developed, the majority will be in Mechanical Manufacturing and IT and Communications, followed by Electricity and Electronics and Installation and Maintenance. However, the variety of proposals presented means that 17 of the 26 existing professional families will be represented.

The director of CaixaBank Dualiza, Paula San Luis, expressed her satisfaction that “more and more schools are becoming aware of and participating in the Dualiza Call and that this participation is diverse, both in terms of the content of the projects, the sectors chosen, as well as the ownership of the schools themselves”.

San Luis added that “this variety allows us to offer a real vision of what VET is, but also of what the Convocation is, where we are committed to collaboration between all the agents of Vocational Training with the aim of improving the learning and employability of students”.

For his part, the president of FPEmpresa, Luis García, added that “each of the selected projects is a way of sharing and learning together between companies and VET centres”.

The development of projects that can be implemented in real environments is once again the protagonist in this call, embodied in energy audits in educational centres, replicas of cybersecurity environments with attack and defence of infrastructures, construction of test benches, or applications to facilitate the circular economy through the use of car sharing.

More than 650 teachers had analysed the future of VET and educational centres at the 8th VET Congress organised by the Association of Vocational Training Centres FPEmpresa and CaixaBank Dualiza, in collaboration with the Basque Government and the Orange Foundation.

Under the title “Building the VET centre of the future” and over two days, 26th and 27th of october, the Kursaal Conference Centre in Donostia-San Sebastián (Basque Country) hosted the debates on the challenges that schools will face in the medium term, what digital tools they will need and what role companies will play in relation to these same schools and students.

The President of FPEmpresa, Luis García Domínguez, gave a positive assessment of the results of the event and concluded that “working together to think and share what the vocational training centres of the future will be like by asking leading centres, companies, social agents and institutions has been the main objective of the 8th VET Congress. At FPEmpresa, we believe that VET centres need to share and learn in order to plan and design the future necessary for quality VET”.

The director of CaixaBank Dualiza, Paula San Luis, expressed her satisfaction with “the success of an event that has become a benchmark for VET professionals and because spaces like this serve to anticipate the challenges that we will have to face in the future and to work in advance on solutions”. San Luis added that “on this path, CaixaBank Dualiza will continue to support all the needs of both schools and teachers”.

Among the speakers were the Secretary General for Vocational Training, Clara Sanz; the Deputy Minister for Vocational Training of the Basque Government, Jorge Arévalo; the head of the Knowledge and Innovation Centre for Vocational Training at CaixaBank Dualiza, Mónica Moso; that of the Regional Secretary for Education and Vocational Training of the Valencia Region, Miguel Soler; and, finally, that of companies such as the Orange Foundation, by the Director of Sustainability of Orange and the Orange Foundation, Daniel Morales; Acciona, Volkswagen and IndesIA, among others.

The FPEmpresa Association also took the opportunity to celebrate its 10th anniversary, promoting vocational training centres with a future. Likewise, the FPEmpresa awards ceremony was held, as well as the awards of the 5th Call for Dualiza Grants.

Also, within the framework of this congress, several visits were made to VET centres in the Basque Country, such as TKNIKA, CIFP Usurbil LHII, CIFP Tolosaldea LHII, CIFP Easo Politeknikoa LHII, CIFP Don Bosco LHII and CIFP Bidasoa LHII.
